The Musaf – Elevating Shabbat and Holiday Worship

I am excited to announce the final installment in our ongoing summer sermon series on prayer. This session will focus on the Musaf, a unique and significant prayer in our Shabbat and holiday services.

The term "Musaf" means "additional," reflecting the prayer’s origins as an addition to the regular daily services. The Musaf prayer corresponds to the additional sacrifices that were offered in the Temple on Shabbat and holidays. Today, it serves as a spiritual continuation of those ancient practices, bringing us closer to our heritage and deepening our worship.

The Musaf prayer enriches our Shabbat and holiday observance, adding depth and significance to our worship. It is a time for reflection on the historical and spiritual aspects of our tradition, linking our prayers to the ancient Temple services.

I warmly invite you to join us for this enlightening session on the Musaf. We will explore its origins, structure, and significance, and how it enhances our Shabbat and holiday worship. We will put special emphasis on the changes the Rabbinical Assembly and the Conservative Movement have made to the liturgy of the Musaf.

Shabbat Shalom

Rabbi Bradley Tecktiel
