Join Us for a Special Mitzvah Opportunity on Christmas Eve
For many years, our community has embodied the value of Darchei Shalom—the pursuit of peaceful and harmonious relationships with our neighbors—by stepping forward to help others celebrate their sacred days. This year, we are honored to once again partner with Opportunity Village and volunteer at the Magical Forest on Christmas Eve.
Opportunity Village is a local organization that helps people with disabilities be the best version of themselves through work programs, activities, and socialization. The funds from Magical Forest go to support the organization.
Through this mitzvah, we not only enable others to fully enjoy their holiday but also live out the timeless teaching of Pirkei Avot: “The world stands on three things—Torah, service, and acts of lovingkindness” (Pirkei Avot 1:2). By taking on these responsibilities, we extend a hand of friendship and uphold the spirit of kindness that strengthens the bonds of our broader community.
I encourage you to join us in this meaningful tradition. Together, we can make a difference by bringing joy to visitors at the Magical Forest while exemplifying the values that define us as a people. Anyone under 14 needs to be accompanied by a parent. We already have over 18 people registered from MKT.
In addition, we get to fulfill our life-long dreams of working at a carnival. Come dole out churros, take ride tickets, serve hot chocolate, help kids on and off the Merry-Go-Round, and more.
If you are interested in participating, please sign email Cantor Gershon. Timing and instructions will follow once you register. Let us show Midbar Kodesh Temple’s warmth and generosity in action!
If you have any questions about volunteering, please reach out to Rabbi Tecktiel or Cantor Gershon.
L’shalom,
Rabbi Bradley Tecktiel
