Mazel tov to Midbar Kodesh Temple member and past President, Howard Baron, MD!
Midbar Kodesh Temple member and past President, Howard Baron, MD, FAAP is the 2020 Medical Honoree at the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation inaugural Courage Ball to be held in mid January. Dr. Baron has served on the clinical medical advisory council for the Arizona-Nevada chapter of the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation for over 15 years, and serves on the local Las Vegas board, helping organize educational programming for local GI specialists, as well as participating in fundraising efforts of our local developing chapter. He was recently appointed by Governor Steve Sisolak to the Patient Protection Commission.
Dr. Baron has been a practicing pediatric gastroenterologist in Las Vegas, Nevada for over 26 years, and has been caring for children with inflammatory bowel diseases since his arrival in 1993. He has co-authored over 30 publications in peer reviewed medical journals, and has been a principle investigator in clinical trials, helping to study and bring new state of the art treatments to children suffering from these diseases. He has also taught dozens of medical students and residents, and has mentored ten former trainees into the field of pediatric gastroenterology.
Dr. Baron also serves as the national secretary-treasurer of ImproveCareNow, an international learning health system and quality improvement collaborative network of 109 centers around the world that specialize in treatment of children with IBD. ImproveCareNow has been the beneficiary of the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation funding and has improved outcomes for children with IBD by employing quality improvement science and collaboration across centers in the US, Europe and Asia.
