Hannah Hoffman will be called to the Torah. Mazel tov to the Hoffman family!

Hannah Lili Hoffman, daughter to Midbar Kodesh Temple members Shari and Phil Hoffman and sister to Alexandra and Maddie, will be called to the Torah at the synagogue on January 11, 2020. The family will be joined in celebration by Hannah's grandparents, Arleen and Marc Schaeffer from Surprise, Arizona, and Craig and Linda Hoffman from Parrish, Florida. Family and friends from Las Vegas, Henderson, California, Arizona, Florida, Missouri and Georgia will honor Hannah on this special day.

Hannah is an 8th grader at a local middle school where she’s involved with the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP). She is enrolled in all accelerated classes including high school credit Algebra and Spanish. She enjoys playing viola in the school’s advanced orchestra program and being involved in video production where she’s been on both sides of the camera. Hannah has won numerous awards in speech and debate club and serves as historian of National Junior Honor Society. She also serves as an ambassador to her school, conducting tours to prospective students and their families. Recently, Hannah received local and national attention as part of Battle Born Girls Innovate, a program that promotes STEAM opportunities to middle school aged girls.

Hannah plans on matriculating to a local high school where she’ll finish the International Baccalaureate MYP and continue with the International Baccalaureate Career Programme, majoring in forensics. From high school, Hannah plans to attend University of Nevada, Reno where she would like to major in criminology or psychology, and hopes to pursue a career in criminal pathology.

Hannah has been involved in both Kadima and USY at Midbar Kodesh Temple but for now, is immersed in school activities. In the spirit of Tikkun Olam, Hannah helps her family and the members of the National Junior Honor Society create homeless packs for people in need that she encounters as she travels to and from school.

She has been awarded a $100 gift from the David L. Simon Foundation to go toward one of her many Tikkun Olam projects. Hannah appreciates the help of Cantor Daniel Gale and Rabbi Bradley Tecktiel in preparing for her Bat Mitzvah. Her family and friends look forward to her Bat Mitzvah and celebrating the hard work she has put into this milestone achievement
