Family Promise at Midbar Kodesh
One of our biggest Gemilut Hesed (Act of Loving Kindness) programs during the year is our Family Promise week. For one week, we host families that are transitioning into permanent housing. We house, feed, entertain and socialize with the families, all while offering them a safe, warm and caring environment. We have been working with Family Promise of Las Vegas for over 8 years. You can check out the organization at their website.
Over the years, I have seen families from every walk of life come through the program. Our interactions with the families have impacted both their lives and ours. It is one of the rare ways we can get involved directly with helping those less fortunate. There are so many ways you can get involved during our Family Promise week. We need people to bring and serve dinner each night. We need people to offer their talent for nightly activities. We need people to stay overnight in the building with the families. We need donations to cover the costs of breakfast and lunch. There is something for everyone.
This year we will be hosting Family Promise from Sunday evening, February 17, through Sunday morning, February 24th. If you would like to get involved please be in touch with Marci Altman.
