Hurricanes: What can we do?

We have all been witnessing the devastation that hurricane Harvey has wrought on southeast Texas. As I write this hurricane Irma is bearing down on Florida, and there will surely be more need for help. Individuals and whole families have had their entire lives uprooted and lost because of this natural disaster. People often ask, where is God in this hurricane? My answer is God is in our response to the destruction and loss.

So, what can we do? As we sit, cool and dry in our homes there is much that can be done. We have partnered with several local churches and businesses to collect items that are in highest demand right now to the people in Houston and its environs. They have arranged to have a truck transport whatever we collect over the next week and take it into the heart of where it is most needed. Below is a list of the items that have been requested. If you can head over to Walmart, Target, Home Depot, or wherever you can find these items, you can drop them off at the synagogue starting Sunday morning September 10th. The truck will be heading down to Houston on September 17th.

We're executing the #PackTheTruck all next week. There will be collection bins set up in both rotundas.

It is projects like this that bring out the best in the members of Midbar Kodesh Temple. We thank you for your generosity and community spirit. We have a proud tradition of helping others in their times of need.
