THIS SUNDAY, AUGUST 20: Midbar Kodesh Religious School Open House

Religious School at Midbar Kodesh Temple Begins August 20 for Grades K through 6 with Bar and Bat Mitzvah training for students approaching their 13th year. Ma’ayan classes are for post Bar and Bat Mitzvah students through 12th grade. Sunday, August 20th at 9 AM, the school will hold an open house for parents and students to meet their teacher's and learn about the curriculum for the upcoming school year. Today, the Midbar Kodesh Religious School is developing programs that offer profound Jewish learning and joyful Jewish living for families and our students.

Cantor Gale is pleased to introduce his talented teaching staff and looks forward to an exciting year for Midbar’s students. For Grades K/1, Morah Debby Romick brings a wealth of Jewish teaching experience to MKT Religious school, with an emphasis on early childhood. Currently teaching at the Adelson Educational Campus, Debby has a degree in Education and has taught at Shechter Schools and Congregation Anshai Torah in Plano, TX where she also chaired the Education Committee. We are thrilled to have Debby on our staff.

Morah Heidi Stidham returns to Midbar teaching grades 2nd and 3rd. With graduate and undergraduate degrees in Jewish education from the American Jewish University in L.A., Morah Heidi brings an exciting and creative approach to our students. Each of Heidi’s four children has helped in her classroom as a Teacher's Assistant/Madrich. And Abby’s Bat Mitzvah is just around the corner! Just ask any of Morah Heidi’s past students. They will all say “We love Morah Heidi!” Heidi is an Autism specialist for the Clark County School District.

Morah Sivan Gavish also returns and will teach Grade 4. She is a recent UNLV grad, as well as a Camp Ramah and Adelson Educational Campus alum. She was also recently accredited by CCSD as a substitute teacher (mazal tov, Sivan!). Morah Sivan has taught both K/1 and 4th graders at Midbar Kodesh Temple and brings a strong Jewish background to her teaching, and an engaging approach to teaching which her students easily connect with.

Midbar Kodesh Temple welcomes Moreh Mitch Karpp to Grades 5/6. Mitch Karpp and his wife are new to Las Vegas, having moved with their two young children from LA just last month. Mitch received his BA in Jewish History and English Lit from Hebrew University in Jerusalem where he spent nearly a decade as an instructor of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). After returning to the States, Mitch earned his Master’s Degree in Elementary Education, Language and Literacy from Wheelock College in Boston. Mitch has taught in a number of Jewish and general education settings and is currently on the staff on Pinecrest Horizon Charter School in Henderson as a Resource Specialist and Advocate for students with special needs. Baruch ha-ba, Mitch!

And Daniel Gale enters his fifth year serving Midbar Kodesh Temple as Education Director and Cantor. After receiving his graduate and undergraduate degrees in vocal performance from the Oberlin Conservatory, Cantor Gale studied at the Jewish Theological Seminary of America and the Shoolman School of Gradate Education at Hebrew College, from which he received his Master of Jewish Education degree. Prior to MKT, he served as Cantor at Temple Beth-El in Birmingham, AL and as Kol Bo (Spiritual Leader) and Education Director for Temple Israel, Bay City, MI.
