Adam Kartzinel completes his Mitzvah project
Adam Kartzinel, son of Jessica and David Kartzinel, who celebrated his Bar Mitzvah at Midbar Kodesh Temple in January 2017, selected to run a Tennis Tournament Charity Pro-Am event as his mitzvah project. After much planning the tourney took place in April.
Adam's successful event raised over $4325 which benefited the Marty Hennessy Inspiring Children Foundation, an ultimate environment for a child to become their best in all areas of life, including academics, athletics, interpersonal skills, leadership and character development. Funds were raised through the entry fees for players, entry fees for spectators, bidding for amateurs wanting the best partner, a silent auction and a bake sale organized and run by Sarah Dushoff, Adam's sister. Jewel, a famous contemporary music artist who has partnered with the foundation, attended the event to thank Adam for his help.
For the tennis tournament, the "pros" were top tennis players within the foundation including coaches and top juniors. The "amateurs" not only paid an entry fee, they then bid to play with their doubles "pro" partner. A silent auction had items ranging from tennis lessons with top players/coaches, Bowlology gift certificates, a Brooklyn Bagel basket, a Pasta Shop gift certificate, a staycation at Lake Las Vegas, tickets to a Jewel concert and much more.
The entrants played three rounds of doubles, and trophies were given to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place teams.
