A letter from Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan
Last school year, Mrs. Winkler's class collected
Mrs. Winkler, I apologize for the tardiness of this letter, I found it under a stack of papers in our tactical operations center addressed to me. Better late than never I guess. Please tell you students and their parents that we really appreciated the goodies and donated items. Also, please tell Aaron to keep up the outstanding work! I am the commander of the Commander of the Fighting 137th Military Police Detachment. We conduct daily Law and Order Operations. These means that we run traditional law enforcement functions, policing, investigations etc., but we are also the first on scene for emergencies that are quite a bit different from the one that we would normally face at home (that's pretty much all I can say about that). Like at home we work closely with fire fighters, medics and bomb technicians. We live in 2-4 man CHU's (connex boxes essentially), but spend more than half the day at the Provost Marshal Office (police station), patrolling in our vehicles and/or on foot. We are very close to coming home and cannot wait to get home to our family and friends. Thank you for taking the time to think of us, love and support from people like you have made all the difference in the world. I do not have a flag to fly, but I have included a picture of some of my team attached. This picture was taken right after we finished training some of Afghan National Police Officers one Sunday afternoon. Be Blessed! Kindly, Carlito C.
