MKT's own Barbara Grisar Raben to become the Hadassah's Desert Mountain Region President
Barbara Grisar Raben, a member of Midbar Kodesh Temple for almost 2 decades, and current President of Jewish Family Services Agency of Las Vegas, will become the Hadassah's Desert Mountain Region President. She will take office at the Region Conference to be held in Las Vegas at the Alexis Park Hotel in December.
She is a former Chapter Co-President of Hadassah Southern Nevada and is currently the Organization Vice-President of the Desert-Mountain Region, which serves Wyoming, Montana, Colorado, New Mexico, El Paso and Southern Nevada. Barbara recently returned to Las Vegas from the Hadassah National Convention in Atlanta, Georgia where almost 1000 women from all over the country came together to celebrate the wonderful work of Hadassah. At the convention they learned about the latest advancements in medical research being done at Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem where exciting new research is being done at the hospital in the treatment of ALS, multiple sclerosis, and stem cell research.
Barbara, a third generation Hadassah member, has enjoyed meeting women who share her love of Israel and her commitment to Hadassah. "I was brought up in a family that believed that you have an obligation to give back to your community. I believe in the concept of L’Dor V’Dor, from generation to generation and hope to pass along my love of being Jewish, and doing Jewish, to my children and grandchildren."
Barbara is mother to Michael, Andrew and David Grisar and grandmother to Riley. She is also mom to Midbar's Marc and Robyn Grisar who along with their children, her grandchildren, Kameron, Ethan and Emma, can be found at Midbar Kodesh Temple several times a week. Barbara is married to long time Las Vegan Terry Raben, and together they enjoy Terry's children Neil Raben and Holly and Kevin Chidester and grandson Scott.
